Mission
The mission of The Nu Communications Alliance is to increase access to Indigenous language and education programs, increase protection of sacred sites, strengthen environmental monitoring, community health, economic development, and improve the overall quality of life for Indigenous communities by improving broadband infrastructure and bridging the digital divide across reservations, trust lands, and surrounding areas.
History
Our History
NuComm is a Native led 501(c)3 corporation. Our team comprises of highly skilled professionals committed to delivering quality services to Tribal nations and empowering them achieve their goals.
In early 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, many Indigenous Nations applied for licenses through the FCC's 'Rural Tribal Window'. This process marked the beginning of collaborative efforts between the Bishop Paiute and Lone Pine Paiute-Shoshone Tribes of Payahuunadu (Owens Valley, CA). Since that time, we have worked together as individual sovereign Indigenous Nations for the mutual benefit of member Nations.
